Ann, I was lucky enough to act with and understudy Brian in INHERIT THE WIND. He presented himself as a curmudgeon but it was a front. He LOVED acting and the stage and being around him was inspiring. He had great stories and was extremely well read. Between shows on matinee days you could be sure to find him in his dressing room (a short flight of stairs below mine) reading and his choices were often surprising. He also LOVED jazz. I remember sitting next to him one night just before our entrance and he was kvetching about the voice acting he was doing for a Pixar film. He was convinced this film was going to be a disaster. After all, he complained, who's gonna want to see a film about a rat??? The film, of course, was RATATOUILLE. And as was true of everything Brian did, he was splendid in it. |
