My personal feeling is that Sigourney Weaver should have been moved down to Featured alongside Nielsen, who should have stayed there. I don't think Masha (Weaver's part) is Leading Actress material. She doesn't have any big moment in the show and in some ways is almost a plot device than a fully-drawn character. If that part had been played by an unknown, the actress playing Masha would never have had her name above the title based on the role. I don't feel strongly about David Hyde Pierce's placement as Leading or Featured. I could see it go either way. I agree Shalita Grant would have been the one left by the wayside if Nielsen had been moved down to Featured. This conversation is making me remember that Linda Lavin played that role in the benefit performance at Lincoln Center last spring. Lavin was fantastic. I wonder if that was her last public performance (meaning live on stage in a play or concert). |
