Agree on Jonathan Bailey. I thought he was fantastic in a usually thankless role. I'd rather those kind of performances be rewarded over Denzel Washington being rewarded for chewing the scenerey again. If people wanna quibble with a Wicked nomination, how about the unfairness that Bronwyn James didn't get nominated for best ensemble, but Bowen Yang did? For the record, I adore Yang, but it's like nominating Tweedledee but not Tweedledum. Well, you know what I mean. And yes, I know Yang's nomination probably had something do with SAG Award best ensemble qualifications re: billing hierarchy. Since Bowen Yang is a bigger name, he had better billing and that better billing gets him the SAG nod, but it's gotta sting for Bronwyn James. |
