In regards to success on Broadway (which I think is what you mean), in many ways it's not about the talent but about the luck and the opportunities available. Why do some actors work consistently on Broadway and other, just as talented actors, can barely catch a break? It's about your contacts, your agent, your availability, your timing, and your competition. For example, I feel that Faith Prince should be a bigger star, but several of her post-"Guys and Dolls" shows did not succeed financially ("Bells Are Ringing", "A Catered Affair"). There are only so many shows that make it to Broadway and even fewer that succeed. On the flip side, several actors (with middling talent, imho) from "Hamilton" have become very famous and work all the time. Somehow things worked out for them. Life is all a crap-shoot. | |
