| I see people here have referenced Anora, Conclave, A Complete Unknown, obviously Wicked and Emilia Perez, all of which I liked, admired and/or loved. That said as far as the Best Picture race goes, all of those movies are starting to look a little slight - certainly entertaining, audacious, or at least ambitious - but still slight next to the achievement of The Brutalist, which is coming on pretty strong as more and more people see it. (There’s a reason it won Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor at the Golden Globes last night, while Anora surprisingly got completely shut out along with A Complete Unknown, and Conclave and Wicked only got one award each.) Emilia Perez almost certainly has the Best International Film award locked up though. |
