I haven't had a chance to catch ''The Brutalist'' and the newest releases, but I'd be hard-pressed to name a top 5, let alone a top 10, movies of 2024.

I found ''Emilia Perez'' and ''Anora'' each vastly overrated and disappointing, so what they won, or didn't win, at the Globes meant zilch to me.

In the battle of movie musicals, though, it's ironic that ''Emilia Perez'' won the top prize over ''Wicked,'' the more ''Popular'' movie. At Rotten Tomatoes.com, ''Wicked'' got a 88% score from critics and 96% from audiences. By contrast, ''Emilia'' got only a 76% from critics and 65% from audiences.

I wish Stephen Schwartz had written a new song for ''Wicked, Part 1''; he might've won that Golden Globe for Best Song. Instead, a ho-hum tune from ''Emilia Perez'' did. When it comes to ''Emilia's''' music, I guess I'm a ''Mal''-content. (But I can't wait to hear Schwartz's new tunes for his sequel.)
