I think Stark Sands is exaggerating somewhat. The weekly grosses have improved over the last few weeks. However, instead of losing $300,000 per week (like the show was doing throughout November), the best Swept Away has done since then was possibly break even for just the week which ended on 12/15/24 -- that's the only one. Every other week in December, it lost at least $100,000 including the week ending 12/22/2024.

The big problem is the average ticket price has actually been dropping in December, going from $83.12 (early in the month) to just $70.20 (week ending 12/22/24). That's why the show has closed.

The people who are seeing the show are not paying anywhere near full price. Most likely Swept Away has lost its entire capitalization plus an additional $2 million from not making its weekly nut. This sad fact, of course, has nothing to do with the show's quality and fine performances. I'm sure that the love you and its other supporters have for it is genuine and heartfelt.
