Swept Away probably did pretty well during its final week -- we'll find out later today. I suspect Sands was correct in that this last week was completely sold out. However, an average ticket price of $70.20 for the previous week would indicate that at least half the audience was buying discounted tickets. General rush was $40. I assume TodayTix was also offering discounts.
Again, I am not criticizing all the good things you and the show's supporters have posted about the show's quality. I'm just talking about the brutal economic situation for all Broadway shows right now. Making any show into a hit has become a very daunting endeavor. |
