The last performance was actually tonight. It was a thrilling evening. I’ve seen the show three times and tonight the cast gave it their all. The audience response was thunderous. John Gallagher Jr., Stark Sands and Adrian Blake Enscoe sang their hearts out.
Stark Sands spoke at length at the curtain call and said the show had sold out for the past three weeks. He thanked the Avett Brothers and all the fans who traveled from around the country to see the show at Berkeley Rep, the Arena Stage and on Broadway. He said this wasn’t the end of the road—the show will live on with the cast recording and in future productions.
Director Michael Mayer also came out to praise the cast and those involved in the production. He quoted lyrics from Sondheim’s With So Little to Be Sure Of.
I honestly think the show would have done better had it opened in the spring. |
