I was at the closing performance of A Doll's Life in 1982, which played 18 previews and five performances four years before Rags (which I also saw, but I was not at the final performance). TOFT filmed the closing performance of A Doll's Life, too. Both were at the Hellinger, house of mostly flops, disappointments, and transfers, with My Fair Lady obviously being the big (huge) exception. And then in its gratitude the management evicted My Fair Lady. That's a long story.
My understanding is that if someone, usually the producers, want to pay for a show to be taped, it will be done, at least if time allows. |
