I work at the Performing Arts Library. On occasion, shows are captured on video by the Theatre on Film and Tape Archive despite a brief run. Back in 1986, TOFT managed to tape the musical RAGS, which closed after eighteen previews and only four performances. (From what I gather, there was a mad scramble to get the job done, but the final performance was taped.) On the other hand, some shows close too soon to be archived. The musical version of LITTLE WOMEN with Sutton Foster closed abruptly, before a TOFT taping could be arranged. TAMMY FAYE, which closed yesterday, is another show that was not taped for TOFT.

It isn't always possible. And as someone else remarked, not all shows are taped.
