It's true the final performance of A DOLL'S LIFE was taped, and that Adolph Green announced from the stage that it was being taped by TOFT. It's also true the video resides here at the Performing Arts Library. But in fact, that was a rare case when the producers themselves hired a video crew to tape their show. (That is, the crew was not hired by the TOFT director, which is the usual procedure.) The video was then donated to the library.
To this day, it's comparatively rare that producers pay to have their shows taped. It certainly does happen, but most videos in the TOFT archive were not financed that way. |
