It’s a full score with enough variety and impact to deliver. I believe it is the only musical in this century to win both the Tony and Olivier award for best musical that originated from London (there have been several broadway transfers to London like Hamilton and dear Evan Hanson that won both).

But I do think Elton was very invested in BE. I think he is the one that wanted to do it and pitched the idea of the musical to the movie director or screenwriter.

Why have Tammy Faye and Devil open in less than a few weeks on opposite sides of the ocean. Both clearly needed a lot of work for version 2.0. So how can you do that for two musicals?

When Lestet was in San Fran tryout, I think he left after opening for Vegas residency instead of working on the show with the critics reviews in hand—a missed opportunity.

And some artists might have only one or two great musicals in them. Those were probably his earlier work.
