I am genuinely surprised to see that the *86 year old* screenwriter of the movie is on this project as the book writer... despite that she has no other credits writing musicals for screen let alone stage... except for the 2004 stage version of DD which this production is trying to be different than.

The article quotes a press release saying the show will “deliver iconic moments, unforgettable songs, and electrifying dance sequences, while reimagining key elements of the story to resonate with today’s theatregoers.”

Who better to reimagine it to resonate with today's theatergoers than the nearly 90 year old writer who's been attached to it from the beginning, not just for the 30 years since she wrote the script, but since she lived her own youth which the movie is based on? Aided by a 65 year old director who has never had success developing or guiding new musicals to box office or critical or longevity success...

To be clear I have no objection to her being involved, even heavily, but there isn't even an official co-bookwriter? Come on. I'm willing to be there is at least an unofficial one.
