I know why the 46/47 language is there. My problem is understanding the logic of having it there. The rule is supposedly about new vs. revival but no one has ever successfully convinced me that, (e.g. albeit randomly), On Your Toes should be uncovered by this rule because of the unavailability of a Tony. And to make matters even more confusing, as the rule reads, a show need not open in 46-47 or later in order to be covered by the rule. [Thus, Oklahoma is covered even though it opened well before 1946 because it was still running in 46 and after.] None of this makes sense.

And while I understand the logic of the 3 year rule, at least in this century, it seems silly that a tremendous hit that ran at BAM is expressly not covered by the rule.

Does any of this matter? Probably only if you have a show (or a competing show) that is affected by this weirdness.
