Only time I've booed in the theater was at a panto (pantomime) in London, where it's tradition to hiss and boo the villain.
When I saw the original production of Titanic, a lot of people booed Ismay (not the actor, but the character) at the curtain call. That's definitely a different kind of thing. I know some audiences like to boo Pinkerton (not the tenor, but the character) in the same way. Though I've never understood why Pinkerton gets that and Iago, to my knowledge, usually doesn't. :-) |
