As much as I love ''Company,'' I can't see any commercial future for it as a film. As it is, the recent ''Company'' revival played only 8 months on Broadway. It even won a handful of Tonys in June 2022, including Best Musical Revival, and still closed at the end of July. In San Francisco, the national tour struggled to find an audience and was heavily discounted. ... Which female celebrity would have the star power to make the movie a hit? Taylor Swift? (She's 34.)
For all the gender switching, I still prefer Bobby as a guy. Maybe the next major ''Company'' revival, in the mid-2030s, could star Timothee Chalamet! |
