I knew there was a problem with Adams when he got rid of the terrific free Coney Island concerts in the park that former Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz had run for years. Adams, as his successor, promised when building some indoor venue, that he'd continue to have the series of free concerts. That didn't happen, even if occasionally there might be a free one here or there. I haven't trusted him since. Even if you had to listen to Markowitz talk (and talk and talk) while you got there early to find a good spot to sit, he brought in acts like Linda Ronstadt (with orchestra dong the "What's New" album material), Dionne Warwick(e), Frankie Valli and the 4 Seasons, Neil Sedaka, Brenda Lee, Chicago (the band), the Beach Boys, and many others. Supposedly a nearby Jewish yeshiva school complained about the concerts being held late at night in the park, but that excuse was BS, since the concerts were held Thursday nights and not on Friday nights going into the Sabbath.
