LOL. Didn't know Resnik was Reggie from the block! She oozed European sang froid! (I think she's my favourite, maybe because she sang it better than anyone else?)

I hadn't remembered either Edith Evans' or Helen Hayes' near-participation. Evans would have been hilarious, I imagine. I don't really see Hayes in the role, but I'm sure she would've been terrific.

Polly Bergen was very good in Baltimore in a very starry production. And Leslie Caron in Paris went up the evening I saw it and because I was in the fourth row I heard her whispering to the Frederika "What's the line?" but Frederika was zero help. But she was elegant and very believable- unsurprisingly- as a former courtesan. (She also was liberated from her wheelchair and danced a bit with Frid (IIRC).)
