A lot of these actors/writers/director are clients of Matt Bomer's husband and publicist-manager Simon Halls.

Evidently the concept behind it is an all-male gay reboot/reconceived version of "The Golden Girls"
Evidently Nathan is the sardonic, older counterpart to Dorothy, while the rather young (at 45 - looking 35) Bomer is supposed to be Rose. Lavin is Sophia and Nathan Lee Graham I guess is Blanche. Clinton Leupp/Coco Peru is in the pilot as well.

I guess Bomer is playing a youngish himbo type gay character not an elderly naive ditz like Betty White played as Rose. The odd thing is that Bomer was also announced for a limited return of "White Collar" but that seems to have fallen by the wayside and Bomer can't do both series.

Bad or good, this is an odd mismatched mashup of actors and a promising concept which would need careful stylish writing and direction to come off. Chemistry is also necessary. Lane and Lavin are known for their comedic chops (mostly onstage where they are best) but Bomer I am unfamiliar with his comedy work.
