There are so many of these classical infusions into the musical. It reminds us
that, even working in a "pop" form, the musicians--composers, orchestrators,
dance arrangers--were classically trained, or at least knowledgeable.
My favorite of these is in Pal Joey, when Siegfried's Horn Call from Wagner's Ring
bursts out in the middle of the dance music to Happy Hunting Horn. |
