While we're doing Grieg, in Breakfast at Tiffany's, there is a very clever
quotation of the Mountain King theme from the Peer Gynt music
in the number The Wittiest Fellow in Pittsburgh.
As the song concerns the johns who hire women escorts, the
suggestion is that the men are like the Mountain King's subjects: trolls.
You hear this on the CD set, but I don't know whether the quotation was in
Ralph Burns' original charts or added by some wag for the recording. |
