The entire joke of the song is he being demur and then when she sings that she's shy a big voice bursts out of her
That's most of the song. The joke no one ever acknowledges is the one at the end when the meaning of "shy" changes - "I am one man (the lady is one man) shy." That's a very clever line that never really seems to land the way it should. |
