| I saw Sutton at Encores, and she was goofy enough, yet didn't really have the belt to pull off this number, yet still not wacky in a Lucille Ball way which would help a lot. You really need someone who can be a clown, and not just in typical situation comedy manner like SJP. Someone like Gilda Radner (who might have been adorable, wacky for most of the show and still not quite have the belt for this particular song), Jackie Hoffman (who does have the belt when I saw her in a concert at Bryant Park a few years ago and wacky comedic chops) or in earlier years, Sandra Bernhard, who actually has a very good singing voice and can play loony and wacky. | |
