That was certainly one of the central flaws of the show that should have been rethought. There is absolutely no way in hell that Megan Hilty and Katherine McPhee would ever be in competition to play Marilyn Monroe. You have to have a lot of good will from the audience with such a flawed starting point.
They should have either cast someone in McPhee's place who was more the type or reconceived the story so that the musical being created is about something else. |
