“The Werbacher twins, Rich and Don, who wrote the musical "What Would Esther Williams Do in a Situation Like This?" along with Don's girlfriend Lisa Bays, all used to work there. All lovely, friendly and talented people. Lisa died quite prematurely, and Don and Rich tragically within days of each other years later, and still just most likely middle-aged. They deserve to be remembered.”

I had the privilege to work with Rich and Don on musicalizing their “What Would Esther Williams Do in a Situation Like This?” (It was a play first that got some great reviews from its off-broadway run).

They had tons of stories of their TKTS adventures that they shared during our Skype writing sessions. And they were a hoot to just listen to.

We didn’t get very far because they both died within days of each other. And at the time, we were building momentum with the musical version. One of the songs I wrote (lyrics & music) for the musical was performed at my GreenRoom 42 show this past April. And it was an honor to give them credit for the book on the big tv screen.

Sadly, one of the co-writers for the musical’s book has since taken lone writing credit for the play, as it was performed again in the last few years. Not cool.
