O'Toole was dubbed in "Man of La Mancha." He insisted that his dubber not sing especially well so that it wouldn't be obvious he was dubbed.

What can you say?!?!

Because of the inherent theatricality in its story-telling, I don't know if "Man of La Mancha" could ever quite work on film but I would love to have seen a better version than the one we got. Ten or fifteen years ago I envisioned Antonio Banderas and Audra McDonald as Don Quixote and Aldonza, perhaps for television, but it's probably too late to think along those lines now. Into the scrap heap of my visions they go!

I love O'Toole, but his singing voice was indeed a bit weak. He sings in "Goodbye, Mr. Chips" and "The Ruling Class," in which he does sound a bit more brassy. He wasn't in "Scrooge," however. You're thinking of Albert Finney, who I actually think did a good job of exclaim-singing.
