Channing made a similar speech after the curtain call when the production was playing on Broadway at the Lunt-Fontanne. I was amused to discover that, though the speech came off as a spontaneous moment from Channing, we were exiting the theatre at exactly the time the old Broadway Theatre Guide (remember those?...I loved them) said the show ended, meaning the speech was carefully rehearsed and timed and included in the running time of the production.
