It was in August, 1994. Carol Channing delivered what was described in the newspapers as a "3rd Act". She told us about all the crazy things that had happened to her at various performances of the show over the previous quarter century, about the remaining stops on the tour, and about the plan to bring the show to Broadway. I didn't time her but it must have been at least 15 minutes, perhaps longer. One lady a few rows in front of my partner and me on the main floor yelled out "We love you, Carol!" At some point Channing said (realizing she was going on much too long) "Why don't I just shut my mouth and go home?" Nevertheless, despite the length, it was an unforgettable experience.
