Maybe you have an interview(s) that says this, but I am not sure that the narrative they are selling is that "Merrily is a masterpiece". The sentiment I feel has come through most is that Merrily finally WORKS in this version. Due largely to the casting of Groff who helps solve the problem of Frank's unlikability (as written) with his own charm and charisma. Along with a hefty assist from Friedman and the other stars.

And I think a lot of people are reluctant to say this out loud but the packed houses and high ticket prices are due mostly to Radcliffe's participation. He's one of the most famous people in the world, and one can see how much the grosses dropped when he was out.

Listen I wish them all they have achieved and more. I LOVED this production. It was the best thing I've seen on Broadway in YEARS, and I went twice. I am not sure folks are saying Merrily is a masterpiece. But at least that it is no longer the abysmal flop and failure it was once thought to be.
