How did George Furth and Hal Prince escape blame... they had more to do with the show! Hell, blame Judy Prince since it was her idea to help patch things up between her husband and the friend she had met before getting married ( SJS knew her father Saul Chaplin ). I giggle at the praise Maria Friedman gets for "solving the problems" when it was a rewrite, hiring Harry Potter and NOT casting teenagers! Not only was the sound tinny in the original production but it was ugly to look at: from T-Shirt costumes ( a friend in the cast hated them since they were white under stage lights ) to the sets especially the Bel Air swimming pool which someone gets pushed it that stops the show... and not in the good way. I'm curious why Florence Klotz wasn't called in ( her last costumes for Hal was "Whistle Down The Wind: which she HATED: "Nothing but rags!" ). Flossie created SJS's face mask of sheet music for Capote's black & white ball ( was it sold at the auction? ).
