I don't consider ''Ain't Misbehavin''' a jukebox musical. It's a revue. It's like ''Smokey Joe's Cafe,'' a bunch of songs with no real narrative plot.
I think of jukebox musicals as collections of songs that were pop hits on the radio. Like ''Beautiful: The Carole King Musical.''
It's also why I made the distinction of ''pop jukebox'' for ''Hell's Kitchen.'' And I don't consider ''Crazy for You'' a jukebox musical either. |
