Last night's rain

Was anyone else caught in the deluge last night on their way to a show?

I have to laugh about this now. Coming in to see Titanic, I stayed at a hotel I usually stay in when I come to the city, near 39th and 8th. And originally, the forecast was thunderstorms in the early evening. But as the percentages went down during the day, I decided what the hell, I'll walk to 55th - I could use the exercise anyway. So I did. I brought a coat and umbrella for the trip to NYC, but by this point I figured I didn't need them. So, in a polo shirt and jeans, I was walking along, minding my business, and...

I got about 2 blocks, and the flash flood began. Holy crap, now what? I was already soaking wet as I ducked into a subway entrance on 42nd, along with a bunch of other pedestrians. Not being NYC subway-savvy and not having a helluva lot of time to experiment, I wasn't going to do that. So I waited a few, figuring it would die down. But when it didn't, and realizing I only had so much time to get to the theatre, I decided I had to make a run for it. I certainly wasn't going to be late for the show. So, I dashed out into the storm. The irony of the show I was seeing was at least making me laugh.

Luckily, in a few blocks' time, the storm did start to die down. By the time I got to 55th/Broadway, one more block to go, it was barely raining at all. But when I got to the theatre I must have looked like I just got rescued from a lifeboat lol.

It was all worth it. :-)
