Hugo is a non-singing role in the show. But when they cast Rydell in the film, they clearly had to give him something to sing lol.

FWIW, I saw was a rehearsal video of that number, and thought Sykes' musical stylings were way off. What's odd about the song, of course, is that it's not one of Birdie's rock songs, so it's in a bit of a nether world musically (to me it feels rather "Vegas"). But Sykes' take on it seemed a bit more 21st century.

And of course yes - neither "Honestly Sincere" nor "One Last Kiss" have anything to do with Little Richard's style either.
