Olivo was nowhere near the best sung Satine. She opted down a lot.
I'm curious. Since the role was surely written around Olivo's voice, how did she "opt down?" Or was that something that happened later in the run, like Merman having the Gypsy keys lowered during the run?
There is the curious case of Joanna Gleason's ending for "Moments In The Woods," where it does seem she "opted down" compared to what's written in the score. But since she was the first to sing the role, I'm not sure if that's the right term or not. Maybe everyone else "opted up" lol?
I know this might be semantics-ish, but I'm still curious. :-) |
