''Dead Outlaw'' won Best Musical, one of the few Off-Broadway shows to get this honor at the Drama Desks. They almost always pick a Broadway show.
Voters passed over the Broadway nominees ''Illinoise'' and ''The Outsiders.'' (And ''Hell's Kitchen'' and ''Suffs' weren't up for Best Musical.)
''Water for Elephants'' was the night's most-rewarded musical, with 4 prizes, including Director, but it, too, wasn't nominated for Best Musical. |
