I still don't get it. Other musicals have restaged their numbers for the Tonys. It's not like the staging in the 2017 revival of ''Hello, Dolly!'' was so revolutionary. ''Before the Parade Passes By'' has been done on at least a couple of other Tony telecasts, and the staging was never an issue.

I realize the Tonys didn't want to set a precedent, but they should've made an exception: It would've been better to have Bette than not.

By the way, I would've asked Bette back in 2022 (to celebrate the 75th Tonys) or this year, 2024, which is the 60th anniversary of ''Hello, Dolly!''
