| So Ben Platt has opened the renovated Palace Theatre with a big splashy series of concerts ... and NO ONE has reviewed the show. Why? Because the critics "weren't invited," I'm told. My colleagues will recognize this as one of my longstanding soap-box issues. Who do the critics work for? (For the record, whenever that happened to me, whether at the Times, Variety, or Bloomberg News, my response was to buy a ticket and review; not infrequently my own colleagues and some on this site took umbrage at such audacity...) This ain't kosher. Where is the Times on this? Variety? |
