Sounds like a few of us were there over the weekend! We saw it on Saturday evening. Or at least Act 1. Lots of strong performances by the women. One number set in a speakeasy was fun but the rest was a jumble and blur. Seems to be following the book - I read for the first time last year. I loved Hadestown and this is no Hadestown, yet. The set looks like the junkyard from Cats. I absolutely hated the choreography, just in your face and distracting. Very Sonya and while interesting just a tad over the top for pretty much every scene. We wound up leaving because we have a 5 month old puppy at home and got concerned about getting home after midnight. We drove up from Providence and the show started late (we think because we don’t wear watches and they locked up the phones) and based on my Act 1 experience didn’t think we’d miss much. Curious about how the 2nd act went.
