There is also a significant history over the last decade of the Times withholding negative reviews of off-Broadway shows. I was involved ina significant off-Broadway show over the past few years which the Times did not even send a reviewer to until 3 weeks after it opened. The only off Broadway shows that are guaranteed reviews coming out immediately after opening are those at the major non profits - Atlantic, MTC, Roundabout, NYTW, Vineyard, Park Ave Armory, St Annes Warehouse, BAM, LCT, MCC, Playwrights Horizons, Signature, Mint. Coincidentally, all have rich New Yorker donors and Board Members. They are also ongoing producing theatres, with seasons, that are part of the NY theatre landscape.
