About the Author:
Robert Rusie recently completed his Masters in Anthropology
but his secret love has always been the theatre, Broadway, in
particular. I've know Robert for many years and during our
wanderings in New York, he would point out particular landmarks
in the city. He knew where theaters, long gone, stood, when they
were built and by whom. He has a passion for the history of
Broadway and who better than Bob to tell the story of the Great
White Way? We've seen many shows together including Carrie!
He'll begin in the early 1800's and take us on a journey through
200 years of history and at the end, I think we'll all have a better
understanding of this business called Show. The first
installment is Broadway pre-1900. After that, it will continue
decade by decade.
Join Robert each month as he takes us on a virtual trip enhanced with
graphics of the day taken from my collection of theater memorabilia.
Robert is a native of New Jersey; lived in Manhattan for 20 years
and now resides in Las Vegas, Nevada. I ran into him in Las Angeles
at the Shubert Theater when I saw Ragtime and I knew he was
a Broadway buff from the old days and I asked if he was interested...
well, the result is Broadway 101. I hope you enjoy it.
