Hart lived with his mother and brother until Teddy married in 1938 and Frieda died shortly after OKLAHOMA! opened. In 1939, Larry, Frieda, and their housekeeper Mary Campbell, moved to the penthouse of the Ardsley. The women had the upper floor of the penthouse, Larry had the lower floor which was soundproofed so he could host parties and not bother them. Hart also loved gatherings with the extended family, and sporting events like boxing and baseball.
