The states goal at the top of the story is often an outer shell to a deeper goal that reveals itself as the story progresses.
In terms of placement, I haven’t seen the show, but they want something to drop us into the story, and they plan to bring the song back in the form you’re more familiar with later, and that’s a reasonable strategy.
Will it work? I don’t know. If it doesn’t, they’re in trouble, because it’s really hard to make significant changes in previews these days. But we don’t know yet. |
