There's also a score written for what became "Wonderful Town" by Leroy Anderson and Arnold Horwitt, which was jettisoned because apparently star Rosalind Russell didn't like the score. I love Anderson's music, his only other musical being the wonderful "Goldilocks" (which never was out of print even though the show flopped), and wonder if the written score ever surfaced anywhere, perhaps in one of the Boston area universities, since many of Anderson's works premiered with Arthur Fielder and the Boston Pops.
Of course, tons of musicals and operas have been based on the Cinderella fairy tale over the years. Plus other fairy tales as well. |
