We found the interpretation to be a bit over the top as well and it was one of the first topics of discussion over drinks afterward. We tried to compare it to other productions but simply could not remember specifics. One comment did strike a chord and that was that perhaps it is directed that way to emphasize her mother's misguided direction. (Remember Rose's first line is "sing out Louise". )Obviously June is already doing so. Be that as it may, Audra is right up there with all the Broadway Madame Rose's we have seen, and frighteningly, we have seen them all. Her choice to clutch Louise during
"Everything....." is breathtaking. Oh,and yes, Danny's performance is an understated delight. Another," OH". Yes those OUTSIDER prices are intimidating. One final "Oh". Agree about ANTIQUIIES. As my wife said, "it is a lightning but not lightening". Great scenic design, however. Speaking of lightning bugs, wow, MAYBE HAPPING ENDING is ravishing.
