My mileage varies.
I sat in the back row of the Henry Miller - the seats back there were actually bar stools - and I laughed my ass off. I had already essentially memorized the cast recording, but was thrilled to finally get to see the full show. I've been music director for two productions (and in both cases making sure that the original clever MD's entrance was kept in some form), and would do it again in a heartbeat - aortas, arteries and all. I didn't find the original production cloying at all - perhaps the Encores version is. I'm sorry you don't like it more, Sergius. |
