I saw Old Friends in London from the third row in an excellent affordable seat and was blown away to see Bernadette Peters and Lea Salonga and the rest of the fine cast perform Sondheim songs gloriously. This is best Sondheim tribute I’ve seen since Side by Side with Sondheim many years ago.

In London they preceded Act Two with the overture to Merrily We Roll Along. Do they repeat that in this production?

I was especially impressed with Lea Salonga as Mrs. Lovett and Jeremy Secomb whom I saw off-Broadway in Sweeney Todd gets to recreate his excellent work as Sweeney here. And any show with Gavin Lee is with the price.

I unfortunately haven’t bought a ticket for the Broadway production because the prices are so high.
