I saw this on Sunday evening, in its last Boston performance before moving to Hartford. Jonah Barricklo (Peter) and Hawa Kamara (Wendy) were my students at Emerson. So so so proud of them. They really carried the show, though the whole cast is quite good.

Fans of the original script will find a lot of changes - the opening nursery scene is barely recognizable, though it works quite well. I was surprised to hear so much of the original 1954 score intact (even the overture - untouched except for a smaller orchestra, which sounded pretty good if a little thin), though of course there were changes throughout as well. And lots of fun updates that reference the original - for instance, Hook's exclamation "bicarbonate of soda, no!" has become "pepto of bismol, no!"

The projections are magical and add a whole new dimension to moments like the flying ballet. Yes, the animals are gone - the croc is still there but is more talked about than seen. There are no uggs or wuggs anymore, which is great. (There's also no more "holocaust of children" line.) The new song that unites the boys and the Indians is effective (and closes the first act, with the show now in 2-act form) but of course feels somewhat foreign to the classic score. No big deal, though. There are a few oddities, like the boys taking their "vitamins" (instead of medicine) while Peter's "vitamins" are still in drinkable form (maybe it should have been an energy drink lol?) - and little changes to the grown-up Wendy scene seemed a bit clumsy (otherwise Lonny Price's direction was spot on), but it was all in all a magical, fun and touching production.
