I agree it’s not some vast conspiracy but he has a point.
The question isn’t one of “the best way to strategize” making purchases, and his issue isn’t one of wanting to pay less let alone get the best price:
it’s simply that the official sales website for a major Broadway show that, as you say, is on TKTS almost every day, should have tickets available a few days before hand for those customers willing to actually pay full price - and as he says, frankly, it makes no sense for the producers not to.

That’s all he was saying- some people still want to make a simple easy full-price purchase, without “strategizing” or comparison-shopping, or hitting the resale market- and since those people are in increasingly short supply it doesn’t make sense to penalize them by holding back seats for the booth when they willingly would’ve bought them at face value. (And pointing that out doesn’t mean he’s making it all about himself.)
