| There is no real story. Both the ladies embroidered their stories. They remained highly competitive all their lives. Gypsy told a more entertaining story, in my opinion. She was a charming, clever woman who worked hard her whole life crafting a magical character. A real life Auntie Mame, but I’m sure her beginnings in 3rd rate Burlesque were sordid and difficult. She managed to rise above them and become a world wide phenomenon! |
